With Social Media focusing on engagement and conversation, it is important to post relevant content and respond to your fans in a timely manner. Unfortunately, being in front of a computer is not always possible, but it is still important to be able to respond and act on opportunities at any time. In line with Facebook’s new focus on mobile, they released a new tool for Mobile Page Management overnight.
The new app allows you to post updates and photos as your page, respond and comment on page posts from other users, and view your Page Insights. It also sends push notifications to your devices when someone interacts with your page – so you can respond to Fans instantly, where necessary.
It was previously quite difficult and inconsistent to manage updates while on the go. Depending on the page settings, sometimes posting on your page would result in posting from your personal account, which resulted in the update not being sent out to your fans.
It also simplifies the management of multiple pages for those who work in the digital marketing industry, or those who manage a couple of Pages for their organisation.
Installation was easy. When you first open the app, it will connect to your Facebook app and ask to link the account. Accept, and you’re ready to post.
The interface will be instantly familiar for those who use the regular Facebook app on their iPhone/iPad. Most of the functions have been lifted directly from the personal application.
A few grips though: I believe it is lacking the ability to respond to messages, and when you go to post a link the preview does not show up in the app post window (making it a bit of a guessing game as to what will truly show up). You also cannot view your Page’s News Feed, or view and edit events. Fix these minor issues, and this app will definitely be a great addition to the daily tools we use.
Currently the app is for iOS only – specifically iPhone (makes sense, the full site works fairly well through Safari/iPad), although you can install it on your iPad – particularly to upload photos and receive push notifications.
Download the Facebook Pages Management application from the iTunes store (AU).
